CycleHosts South Korea Tour

Why South Korea?

John, a full time cycling guide in Asia describes South Korea as ‘the Disneyland for cyclists’. It has all the features you’d seek in a great cycling experience: breath taking riding, tremendous food and culture. What’s most exciting is the unknown. Those moments which become lifelong memories for you and your fellow riders.

The concept for this trip first came when John and Ben (your ride Hosts) were riding in Thailand together. John explained his frequent holidays to South Korea. He told a story where he ventured into his evenings accommodation.

Tired and hungry from a day of adventure, he noticed a menu on the rear door of the entrance to his room. The images implied he would be eating a serve of chicken. John likes chicken, so he took the risk. When he called the food place, he was greeted by an efficient sounding person that spoke the native tongue and then hung up.

Within twenty minutes, John had a very healthy serve of chicken and beers. That single story was enough to encourage John and Ben to work on the first CycleHosts experience in South Korea. The story captured so many great things about life: a great days riding, being vulnerable and then cared for by your fellow humans…we can’t wait to show you South Korea.

Day 3 - Seoul to Yeoju 107km

Tuesday 30 April

Let the fun begin! We ride from Seoul to Yeoju (107km). Our first big day will see us venture well out of town to historically significant Yeoju. Due to it’s geography, Yeoju was an important destination during the Three Kingdom’s Period.

We’re a bit out of town on this night so best option for dinner is at the hotel. There is a great little bike shop within walking distance of the hotel in Yeoju.
Breakfast - On own (at hotel in Seoul OR grab something along the bicycle path within the first 25 kilometers)

Lunch - On own

Dinner - Kitty dinner / option for personal time

Day 4 - Yeoju to Suanbo 92km

Wednesday 1 May

We ride from Yeoju to Suanbo (92km).

Known for it’s hot springs, Suanbo is our destination for the day. Before getting to Suanbo, we are treated with views of green hills and lush farms.

Once arriving at Suanbo, the Park Hotel hot springs are well worth a short walk from our accommodation. After soaking away in the springs, John recommends gathering at a quant place for a post ride beer or beverage of choice and then dinner.

For those chasing a coffee, there is a great coffee shop/bike shop in Suanbo which will be an optional starting point before we commence Day 5. Everything is within walking distance of our hotel in Suanbo.

Breakfast - On own (at hotel in Yeoju)

Lunch - On own

Dinner - Kitty dinner / option for personal time

We ride from Suanbo to Nakdong-ri (101km). Along the way are options to stop, including at the Sangju Bicycle Museum - which has a range of interesting bikes and a display featuring the history of bikes in Korea.

The Nakdong River will join us in parts along this route. It is the longest river in Korea and following it’s banks will ensure we have a steady, yet relatively flat day of cycling.

Lunch - On own

Dinner - Kitty dinner / option for personal time

Day 6 - Nakdong-ri to Daegu 83km

Friday 3 May

Day 7 - Daegu to Namji-eup 100km

Saturday 4 May

We ride from Daegu to Namji-eup (100km). The region is regarded by locals for it’s access to beautiful hiking and fishing locations. Once again our riding day will feature stunning green hills, all while being accompanied by rivers of the region. The sun and abundance of water in the area lends itself to growing beautiful flowers. Each year, Namji holds flower shows for local and international tourists.

Breakfast - On own (No breakfast at motel in Daegu - there is a McDonald’s and convenience stores nearby)

Lunch - On own

Dinner - Kitty dinner / option for personal time

Sunday 5 May

We ride from Namji-eup to Busan (94km). Our last riding day!

Upon arriving at Busan, LOCA Bike staff will pick our bikes up from our hotel in Busan (on the afternoon of May 5 around 3pm), box them up, and return them to us (on May 6).

We have multiple dinner options for our final feast as a group. Options include a short trip on the subway to Busan’s popular beach area to have dinner/drinks/stroll. Gwangli Beach is another option, known by cyclists for it’s trendy bike shops and craft beer (30 minutes away by subway). Or, our hotel is centred around a bustling nightlife area with plentiful of food options.
